Gasland
The Billion Dollar Energy Industry has a Dirty Little Secret . In September 2006, theatre director and part-time banjo player Josh Fox received an unexpected letter: a natural gas company offering him $100 000 for permission to explore his family's upstate New York property, in the lush Delaware River Basin area. Rather than simply signing on the dotted line, Josh's curiosity saw him asking questions. After some investigation, he discovered that the method for extracting the valuable resource from the "Saudi Arabia" of reserves, hydraulic fracturing, is exempt from several important pieces of federal legislation, including the clean water act. As Josh sets out on a journey across America's heartland, his personal concerns quickly uncover global ones: the multi-million dollar business of fracking has contaminated the water supply, the corporate giants are in cover-up mode, and the PR-spun government has not only turned a blind eye, but has regulated itself out of the picture...Rough-hewn yet poetic, the film is a desperate plea for scrutiny of a powerful industry that has now turned its eyes on a new, massive and (for now) largely unexplored territory: Australia. 2010 Gasland Productions LLC. Disgrace

TV On The Radio - Nine Types of Light
Nine Types of Light is as much an album as it is a movie by TV on the Radio. The movie is meant to be a visual re-imagining of the record, and includes a music video for every song on the album. The band personally asked their friends and the filmmakers they admired to help direct the music videos. Tunde Adebimpe, the director for the full Nine Types of Light movie, storybooked the music videos together with interviews from local New Yorkers on various topics, including dreams, love, fame and the future. Tunde also directed the music video for Forgotten. Nine Types of Light, both the album and the movie are set to release on April 12, 2011.

Turkish film labeled anti-semitic
'Valley of the Wolves -- Palestine', the latest in a wildly popular series of action films, has been labeled anti-Semitic. In it three Turkish special forces operatives shoot their way through Jerusalem and the West Bank to avenge the real-life Israeli attack on the Mavi Marmara ship last May, that left nine Turks dead. This public domain movie is a classic example of film noir and one of my favorite movies. In it, a guy is poisoned by radiation poisoning put in his drink, and he knows he is going to die, but in with his remaining time he dedicates himself to discovering who killed him, and why. It wasn't on YouTube yet so I thought I'd put it up. Orchard-L, author of Boundless Ocean, Missing, and who is helping me make Saturated Dreamers, recommended the movie to me.
