ECOLOGY NEWS - Plants too show intelligence in capturing nutrients
In ecology news, Canadian scientists discover plants' ability to absorb information. Dr. James F. Cahill and colleagues of the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Alberta found that two plants placed in the same pot with nutrients evenly distributed grew without intertwining roots. However, when two plants were placed in a pot with nourishment in an area between them, their roots intermingled at that spot. Dr. Cahill stated, "This ability to integrate information is a level of complexity never seen in plants before." The results of the study were published in the journal "Science." Our thankfulness, Dr. James F. Cahill and colleagues, for your fascinating research. May we continue to gain a deeper understanding of the wondrous plant world.
